Exploring the Köln Cathedral

It was great that there was a Christmas market right beside the Köln Cathedral. I was already hungry for lunch and it provided me with a great place to find some nice and affordable food. I was thinking that I can’t really afford to have a sit down meal all the time and since it was Christmas, the markets would be a great place to get food. There are no seats at the Christmas markets though they do provide tables where people can stand around it and consume their food. I ended up at a table right beside the cathedral with some locals who didn’t really pay my any mind since everyone else was just busy eating away.

Much as I wanted to go explore the Christmas market, I would need to start visiting the Köln Cathedral, which is literally right in front of me. I can already appreciate how elaborate the design of the cathedral is. I hate to say this but it looks like any typical gothic cathedral. Of course, there would be various differences among cathedrals but you have the usual design elements of a gothic cathedral. High columns, elaborately designed gates, and even statues which adorn the entrance to the cathedral. This are all very typical of gothic cathedrals and it should not take away from the amazing work that was put into building and restoring it.
