Luxor Hotel and Casino Atrium

Luxor Hotel and Casino Atrium

When the Las Vegas monorail passed by the Luxor Hotel and Casino. I thought that it is an impressive structure but when I found out that the pyramid structure turned out to be the hotel itself, that blew my mind. The pyramid shape of the hotel is probably not the most optimal shape for a hotel. Of course, a businesses building hotels would try to maximize all the floor space they can. It was therefore even more a surprise for me to find out that the pyramid is actually hollow. The hotel rooms are actually built along the diagonal sides of the pyramid. This leaves gives the Luxor Hotel what turns out to be the world’s largest atrium.

Perhaps they make up for the low density of the hotel room through higher room prices but I think staying at the Luxor Hotel is still quite an experience what with the unique view you get when you step outside the hotel room. It is noteworthy to see that the hotel doesn’t even have vertical columns which are common in almost every building. This allows hotel guests and unblocked view of the entire hotel. Looking up towards the top of the pyramid, you can see that there are hotel room almost all the way to the top. So how, do you get there? Elevators which travel diagonally of course. I didn’t get to try the elevators but I’m sure it would have been quite an experience.
