Wahweap Bay from Wahweap Overlook

Wahweap Overlook is a nice little discovery not too far from Page Arizona. It gives visitors a nice view of the surrounding area. The overlook has a large enough parking area. In fact, there was even a bus when I went there. It was interesting to see what is around here. To the right, you can see the Glen Canyon Dam and bridge, which is where I came from. You can also see the backed up Colorado River here with a nice shade of blue against the red desert landscape. To the left, you can see what is called Wahweap Bay. A bay in the middle of desert!

From the overlook you can see the marina at Wahweap Bay. This is the main recreational area here. It is almost funny to imagine that there is a marina here. I remember that even Lake Mead near Las Vegas also has a marina. I remember that coming into Page, I was seeing large boats being towed. I thought that it was a ridiculous sight because what would they do with that in the middle of the desert. However, it seems that people are determined to have their fun no matter how difficult it is. From the Wahweap Overlook, you can get an idea of how much water the Glen Canyon Dam is holding back. No wonder it had to be built as strong as it was.
