Going to Antelope Pass

Gap on the Way to Antelope Pass

The air-conditioning at Lake Powell Canyon Inn was a godsend in this desert heat. I knew that it would be very warm for the period that I would be staying here in Page that you absolutely need one here. I got a great nights sleep at the inn and I got up to start early. It was summer so the sun was already up by the time I was ready. I can see the sun shining through the gaps of the door. Even that was enough to let me feel how warm it is. When you step outside you can totally feel the warmth. It was still early morning, so it was blazing hot yet but in this cloudless sky, it will get very warm very quickly.

I will not be exploring Page just yet. I still have some places to visit before I do that. I was glad I got a rental car because it allows me to go wherever I want, whenever I want. I don’t know if there is public transport outside of Page but I don’t want to find out. There are two main roads out of Page. I will be traveling south to to visit the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. I know it is a bit of a drive but it was only for today and I thought that it would suit my purposes for the rest of my stay here. On the way out of town, you can see how arid and dry this place is. It is actually kind of beautiful to look at. The red sandstone contrasts against the blue sky. I would get out of the car and take photos and quickly run back to the car because it is very warm. It is still a marvel that they built a road all the way out here.
