Little Colorado River Gorge

Little Colorado River Gorge

Little Colorado River Gorge

I think I have done all I can to explore the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. It is a vast area and it is simply not possible to visit it in just a day. I have visited most of the important viewpoints and even did a little hiking in the morning before it got too hot. By the time it was afternoon I was hot and tired. I wanted to head to the hotel but it is still two hours away from the South Rim. I needed to leave before it got dark, which would be later since it is summer but I didn’t want to risk getting lost and not getting any mobile signal in the middle of the desert.

Fortunately, driving in the area is a breeze. The highway is wide and there were more vehicles than I expected. I thought that there won’t be as much traffic here since it is the desert but apparently, there are a lot of people who take trips during this time and I think that is comforting to know in case something happens to my rental car. I was wary to staying out too late because of jet lag and I although I am not sleepy, I still don’t want to push it. There would be Native American shops along the highway selling jewelry. I wondered how much do they earn here since there won’t be a lot of foot traffic here. There would be people who would stop for a rest so maybe they rely on that kind of customer. Incidentally, there was a Native American shop which set up shop near another canyon. This was the Little Colorado River Gorge. I didn’t get a close look at it but I just thought it was interesting to see this large hole in the distance. I know now that that is actually a canyon but I don’t have the time to get a closer look.
