I have been walking all over the place in the city of Boston since I thought that it was very pleasant to walk in. It would have been more true had the weather been a little more pleasant but it was the start of summer and it was already very warm. I would try to find shade every now and then when I am in between destinations. For more long distance travel there is the Boston Subway. In another one of historic firsts, part of the Boston subway is actually the oldest in the United States, obviously, various parts have been added over the years but it is amazing to know that this is where American subways started.

You can tell that the system is very old since it really looks like it. It is a far cry from the ultra modern systems that you would see in Asia. Some of the stations look downright unmaintained and it is a surprise to know that they are actually in use. The trains themselves are also old but they work. Trains came quite frequently especially during rush hour so there is only a little build up when it comes to passenger traffic. This makes taking the subway a great option when going to the city. There are various lines which go to different parts of the city. In fact, there is also a single line which goes to different destinations so one needs to be aware of where the train is headed and not just remember which color line to take. To pay, it would be convenient to get the Charlie Card which is a stored value card which you can use on the subway and the buses. Passengers can add value to the card at the train stations. I had to get one myself since I would be traveling quite often.
