I did a fair bit of walking around Paris that morning and I was pleasantly surprised at how pleasant it was to go around. I don’t like big cities anymore but somehow, it feels nice to walk around. Maybe it was because it was still morning on a weekend and people weren’t out yet. Anyway, I saw quite a few nice places but it is time for lunch. I am in the middle of Paris so I was sure that I would be able to find a nice place to eat. I somehow ended up in this pedestrian street where there were a few restaurants. One of them was Le Grizzli Cafe.

With a name like Le Grizzli Cafe, I might have had second thoughts on the quality of food they have. The menu seemed to be say that they serve French cuisine, and not American as the name might have implied. It was the last day of my trip so I wanted to eat nice food as much as I could. I sat outside since it was a nice day. The staff understood some English but had to get their English speaking guy to talk to me.

For starters I got something which I never had before, and probably shouldn’t. It was roasted bone marrow. It was basically a large beef bone sliced in the middle. I know how tasty this is and I also know how bad for you it can be. I am not in Paris all the time so I decided to go for it. The marrow is eaten with bread, almost like a spread. You can put salt and herbs to make it taste even better. It was really good. Fortunately, there wasn’t too many of it else I might not live to tell about it.

For my mains I order duck confit. If you look at this trip, I had duck several times already and I can’t get enough of it. This duck is perfectly fried and yet the meat is very soft. Again, it is not the healthiest thing but I really like it. I am no expert in French food, but I thought my meal was very nice. It was still early in the day, and I just sat outside just people watching. I think if I lived here it wouldn’t be able to save much because I would be eating out quite often. If I am ever back in Paris, I won’t hesitate to come back here. And yes, there are no Grizzlies here.
