Looking Back Down the Stairs on the Way to Sacre Coeur in Paris

The Cathedral of Notre Dame de Chartres is certainly a place worth visiting. I have planned to visit it years ago and it was only now that I got a chance to do so. I managed to visit the cathedral and it is indeed as magnificent as I thought it would be. The only disappointing thing was that I wasn’t able to join the day’s only guided tour to the rooftop of the cathedral, that would have been a nice change from all the church stuff that I have seen so far. It was still early in the day and I thought to head back to Paris before it gets dark. I made it back with plenty of time to spare that I thought that I could still squeeze something in.

Paris is a very beautiful city. The first time I stayed there, I stayed in a rather rough part of the city and I wasn’t pleased with my stay. However, I have been other places and I can see that it was more the exception than the rule. I know that I haven’t explored a lot of places here in Paris and I would like to take this opportunity to see it more. One of the places which is quite well known is the Sacre Coeur or Sacred Heart which is a well known landmark in the city. It is a church which sits above the city of Paris. I got off at the Abbesses metro station which I thought was the closest one to Sacre Coeur. I didn’t know that this was just the jump off point to the tourist spot. It is time to start walking up.
