Eiffel Tower at Night

Eiffel Tower at Night

I was glad that I was able to go visit the Chateau de Fontainebleau. I arrived in Paris early enough that I had time to go to Fontainebleau, which is a good hour away by train. By the time I got back to Paris, it was already dark because it was winter where the days are shorter. I was already close to dinner time so I though to look for dinner somewhere near the city center. I don’t really know Paris that much but I do know about the Eiffel Tower which is the most prominent landmark in the country. Surely, there would be a nice place to eat here even if I randomly pick some restaurant.

I ended up getting out somewhere near the Eiffel Tower. By then, it was dark and the tower already lit up. I realized that I never really got to photograph the iconic tower at night. The first time I came here, my friends were tired and they didn’t want to go out at night to take photos. I argued that night time is the best time to photograph Paris since it is also nicknamed the city of lights. But alas, their legs couldn’t carry them anymore because of a day of going around the Palace of Versailles. I would have agreed that I was also tired but you don’t get to go to Paris everyday, but I digress.

The tower is now lit up by countless lights. It really stands out against the night sky. There is a beacon that comes from the tower but I don’t know what it is. I tried approaching the tower but it seems that the area has changed since I was last here. The ground level near the tower has been cordoned off and you can only approach it with a ticket. I never did consider purchasing a ticket to get inside. I thought that it is so big that you don’t need a ticket to see it. You won’t be able to touch it but pictures of the Eiffel Tower up close aren’t as interesting as one from afar. I did realize that I won’t be able to go up there, although, I did go up the previous trip, I didn’t get to go up at night, which would have been nice. Considering it was still pandemic, I thought that would have been the best chance to go up with few visitors coming.
