Going to Colmar City Center

City Center of Colmar

City Center of Colmar

I came to the city of Colmar thinking that it is still that medieval village that I see in the photos but what I saw was a bustling and modern city that resembles a normal French city. It looks like I would have look for the scenic spot myself. I was reluctant to look it up on my phone since I would like to be able to explore the area without knowing too much. I can see that the city center seems to be across the park near the train station. Besides, most people I see seem to be heading that way.

Timber Framed Buildings at Colmar

Timber Framed Buildings at Colmar

Once I walked past the first few buildings, I noticed that the architecture of the buildings here are are older. Most notably, the buildings are timber framed. You can prominently see these on the facade of the buildings. It was common to using timber frames back in the medieval times. It is really interesting to see the buildings still have these characteristics. Because these buildings all have these timber frames, it is rather difficult to tell if they were that old or they were just built recently but conform to the general architectural style of the city. New or not, they look really pretty and it makes you forget that you are in the twenty first century. Just try to ignore the shops below.
