Going to Strasbourg City Center

I was very happy with the Gare de Strasbourg since I can’t remember when I last saw modern architecture in France. I know there is a lot of modern architecture in France but the places I tend to go to don’t usually have it because they are usually historical places where the churches or palaces can’t be touched except when restoring them to how they were. It is rather refreshing to see the treatment they did to the railway station by enclosing it in a glass shell. I don’t think there would be too many of them here in Strasbourg but I might still be surprised since this is a rather large city.

To get to the city center, I took the street just across the train station. I think there are several ways to get there but this one was the easiest for me. I was then surprised to see that there is a river which one needs to cross to get there. This is where security is rather tight. First you need to show your COVID pass to get in. Secondly, there will be a security check on bags. I think they are concerned about terrorist attacks in the Christmas markets which has happened in other countries that they are tightening security to make sure that it doesn’t happen here.
