Enniskerry is said to be one of the most beautiful villages in Ireland. Small wonder that it was used as a film set by different companies, most recently, Disney in the film Disenchanted. I don’t really know much about the movie but this is supposed to be the village the lead actress, who used to live in a fairy tale world, got pulled into. In true Disney fashion, the village was dolled up. It seems that anywhere you can stick flowers in, they would have already done so. There shops were renamed into more fairy tale like names, often with references to Disney stories – like Painting, Painting on the Wall or Tower of Hair. I will leave it up to you to figure out the reference to Disney on those.

Indeed, the village seems to be quite pretty, however, as you can see in the photos, everyone seems to have caught wind of this place. There were a lot of people and it was a bit difficult to walk without running into someone. It almost feels like we were not in the middle of a pandemic. It wasn’t just the tourists who were out in full force. It seems the film crew was also busy. Apparently, they were in the middle of switching sets, so you can see them bringing down stuff and storing them into trucks. Parts of the set were barricaded off because there were trucks and cranes which were used to disassemble the set. You can see how fast the people work here. It shouldn’t be a surprise since they need to be ready by the next day. I don’t know how much you can do in so little time, but I guess that is why you pay these people to do it.
