I was very impressed with the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary at Timoleague. I think it would be very easy to miss if you didn’t happen to walk by Church Street. There is a flight of stairs which starts at Church Street and it climbs up the hill to where the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary is built. At the top of the stairs awaits the main bell tower of the church. The tower itself is a very attractive round shape. One might think that the main entrance to the church is this side but it is actually just a side entrance. I did manage to get in anyway.

The church isn’t as old as what the design would lead you to believe. It was built only in the year 1910 – a baby as far as Irish churches are concerned. The inside of the church is elegant with a lot of touches of wood. Making it look new and old at the same time. This is probably the first church that I have visited that is dedicated to the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. A lot would be dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary herself but not to the nativity. I know there is one dedicated to the Nativity of Jesus Christ, so this one is rather unique in that regard.
