Going to Harborview Beach

Harborview Beach

Harborview Beach

I should not be surprised that this area of Cork is studded with numerous beaches. When I first checked in to the bed and breakfast, my host, Marion Maloney, mentioned that there is a nice beach nearby but I was intent on going to the Old Head of Kinsale first before anything else. I managed to do that that evening, so now I can focus more on moving westward. I had a great night’s sleep at the Bridgeview Farmhouse and equally great breakfast that morning. It was almost like I couldn’t be fed enough. I think I spent an hour for breakfast, instead of my normal quick breakfast. As Marion reminded me, I am on holiday and I shouldn’t need to rush.

After that substantial breakfast, I can finally start to explore the area. First order of business would be to visit that beach which Marion mentioned the previous day. It wasn’t really that far, probably just a five minute drive to the beach. Harborview Beach is one of the large beaches in this part of Cork and looking at the place, I think this is one of those heavily silted areas which seems to be very common in this part of Ireland. This does make for large beaches that fill up when the tide comes in. Already, there were a lot of cars here and I was having problems looking for a spot. I didn’t expect such a remote beach to be that popular. I guess, if it is summer, you have to find a beach somehow.
