I was happy with my visit to El Jadida. The old city was compact enough to visit in an afternoon. Additionally, there are places just outside the old city to see. This was a welcome change from the rush that I had been doing these past few days. There are probably a few places to see further out from the old city but I didn’t bother. I decided to enjoy this time and just relax. For accommodation, I didn’t have to go very far. I managed to find accommodations at a guest house in the old Portuguese city, incidentally, that happens to be the name of the guest house – Maison d’hôtes de la Cité Portugaise.

I have checked in that morning when I first arrived but my room was still not ready. I left my stuff with them and I just went out to see the sights. By the time I got back my room was already ready. It was actually just behind reception. Unsurprisingly, you can hear everything that goes on out there. Fortunately for me, it was already evening when I got back so I never needed to worry about too much noise from reception. This time around, I got a room with an en suite bathroom. The bathroom was tiny but it does the job. The bedroom was also tastefully designed with a sea theme decorations like sailboats – appropriate because El Jadida is right by the sea. There is a large common area near reception which I never got to use but I can see how visitors would want to gather there. If you need a place to stay in El Jadida, you can’t pick a better place than Maison d’hôtes de la Cité Portugaise, you don’t get to stay in a UNESCO World Heritage site that often.
