Inside Lake McDonald Lodge

Lake McDonald Lodge was patterned after Swiss chalets and I don’t blame them for choosing that design. Swiss chalets after very attractive and I think it shows, since a lot of the lodges here have that kind of design. Mountain chalets are something I don’t see very often and I was very happy to know that Lake McDonald Lodge was actually open to visitors. I guess it makes sense since this hotel is a historic one. The main lobby of the hotel is one which transports you back in time. Much of the structure of the hotel is made of wood, and it brings that log cabin type of charm to the place, except that this is a hotel.

One of the most striking decorations here in the lobby are the heads of animals. There a several heads mounted on the walls of the lobby, none more prominent than one of a moose. I would like to think that such displays aren’t very nice but this was a design style from way back when people actually like to see heads of animals in their houses. The lobby is dominated by a large fire place and one could just imagine how nice it would be to sit in this cozy lobby sipping your coffee and reading a book. It feels like living a rich person’s life. If you stay here for a few days, you can get the feel of living in a place like this. One day, if I become rich, I would like to be able to stay here for a couple of days.
