Much as I adore the location here in Glacier National Park, one thing it doesn’t have a lot of is eating places. At least for that time of the year, at lot of the eating places were already closed for the season. I went to the village of West Glacier hoping to find a place to eat but all of them were closed. The resort where I was staying in is more for the do-it-yourself type of group. I didn’t have cooking utensils with me so cooking is out of the question. I needed to find a place to eat. For some reason, I forgot to ask Steve, the man at Lake Five Resort. I know I could go to Kalispell or Whitefish but that is probably a last resort.

Inside Packer’s Roost

I drove down the highway towards Whitefish in the hopes of finding a place to eat. I was sure there were a few along the way. It was a question of which one would be open. I found this place called Packer’s Roost. This is a diner type of place. Inside was nice and cosy and people probably come here for drinks. I ordered one of their burgers and it was huge. I had a hard time finishing the thing. The fries were plentiful as well. As for the taste? I’d say it was pretty good. I think this is what I expected when eating at American restaurants. Staff was friendly and service was prompt. I was in a bit of a hurry to finish dinner since I don’t want to be driving in the dark. Much as I wanted to go back here to eat, I also wanted to try the other places. In the end, Packer’s Roost was where I had my best dinner in my visit to Glacier National Park.
