Entering the Old Xinbeitou Station

It seems that I got more than I bargained for here a Beitou. It was expecting that there would only be the hot springs to see here but there are a few historical structures here to see not necessarily related to the hot springs. I had my lunch at a nearby restaurant so I can finally move on to another place in Taipei. Before I left, I noticed another structure, not too far away from the metro station. This is the Old Xinbeitou Station. Firstly the name might be a little confusing since Old and Xin (New) contradict each other. Xinbeitou is a relatively newer area of development in Beitou, which is a bit further away from the hot springs area.

The Old Xinbeitou Station is one of the old landmarks that can be found here. As you might have guessed, there used to be an old train station here at Beitou. However, that has been made obsolete by the construction of the metro line has a dedicated spur to Beitou. The Old Xinbeitou Station has been turned into another museum. This time showcasing the history of the train station itself. The structure itself is an attractive wooden station. It wasn’t very large but it has all you need in a train station. Back then everything was all manually processed, there is a front desk where inspectors would check for tickets and stamp them. There are also exhibits which show some parts of the train. There are also some games for kids to play. For me, the best part of the station is the architecture itself. There is no entrance fee for this museum.
