Beitou Park is a pleasant place to be in. It is a small park that is built near the Beitou Thermal Valley. A lot of the structures here have something to do with the nearby hot springs for which Beitou is known for. Not all of the structure here are old. There is a rather new building here which apparently is the Taipei Public Library’s branch here in Beitou. I was surprised to learn that it is a library. I would have thought it was some sort of museum. The exterior of the building is the one which strikes me the most.

From the outside, it looks like a modern wooden building. I would have imagined this building to have been entered in some green architecture contest. Despite its four storey height, the building is clad in wood. It looks very attractive seeing these types of modern buildings still incorporate natural materials. I feel a bit of Japanese influence in the design since it looks like those old wooden Japanese houses. I guess that might be something to be expected here since Beitou has a lot of history involving the Japanese occupation. Just across the library is another wooden platform where you can admire the library. It also doubles as a toilet just in case.
