Outside the Beitou Hot Spring Museum 北投温泉博物馆

The Beitou Hot Spring Museum is an interesting place to visit to know more about the hot spring culture here in Beitou. The place has very strong Japanese influence since this place used to be a Japanese public bathhouse. There are pools inside there patrons would come a bath in the hot spring waters. While the inside of the bathhouse is very Japanese, the outside is something that looks like it came from a totally different continent. The old public bathhouse has a very European design that looks very out of place with the rest of the area. The design is tudor and from the outside you probably won’t think that it is a Japanese bathhouse.

It actually looks very charming from the outside and it is nice that the government has managed to preserve this building. This is all built within the Beitou Park which is almost like an oasis of green in the middle of the city. I think this is a fascinating side of Taipei that I never got to know. Further down the park there are still more structures and now that I have seen one of them, I think I would want to see the others.
