I would like to think that one of the main draws in visiting Jiufen would be to see the view from the mountain. No doubt that the view from here would be great, if you could see it that is. During my visit to Jiufen, there were low lying clouds which completely obscure the view from the mountain village. Add to the fact that it seems to be constantly raining there past few days and you could hardly see anything here. At one point, I got tired of walking around. After all, I have been walking around since the morning having come from another village called Shifen.

I came to know that Jiufen seems to be known for the quality of their tea. I found this out when a friend of mine asked me to buy a tea specific to Juifen. In hindsight, I should have expected this since mountains tend to be great for growing tea. Incidentally, there are quite a few tea houses here in Jiufen and they are set up strategically so customers can have a great view of the scenery. I went in Jiufen Guanhai Restaurant 九份观海楼. You basically order tea and sit by the viewing deck where you get a nice view of the mountainside. I was careful not to get wet since it was still raining. The clouds out part every now and then to reveal the gorgeous mountain scenery here. In hindsight, I thought I should have had dinner here. I thought it would have been nice to have dinner and admire the scenery.
