Yanjingdong Waterfall 眼睛洞瀑布 at Shifen 十分

Having already seen the waterfall at Shifen 十分, I thought that I should start wrapping up my tour of Shifen riverside. There seems to be a park of some sort along the shores of this section of the Keelung River so I thought that I should just continue on and maybe there would be something nice to see here. The rain doesn’t seem to show any sign of abating so I just have to push on. I was surprised to see that there was yet another suspension bridge here. It seems that this place is much larger than I thought it would be. The second suspension bridge is named Guanpu Suspension Bridge 观瀑吊桥 or Waterfall Appreciation Bridge. Obviously, this meant that this would be a good place to observe the waterfall.

True enough there was another waterfall here. This one is named Yanjingdong Waterfall 眼睛洞瀑布 or Eye Glasses Cave Waterfall. It was difficult for me to see why it has the name is had. I don’t think the waterfall looks like a pair of eye glasses, nor to I see a cave which looks like spectacles. Whatever it is, it wasn’t that impressive anyway. The waterfall was quite narrow and visitors can only view it from above, making it even more difficult to appreciate how large it is. I don’t think people would be forgiven to give this one a miss. I’m surprised they even gave it a name in the first place.
