One of the main attractions here at the village of Shifen is actually outside the village. There is a waterfall outside the village. It is a short walk from the village but it was raining that day. I decided to push through with it since waterfalls tend to be fuller whenever it rains. It said that this is one of Taiwan most well known waterfalls and I am eager to see it. Already there were signs that there was something good in store when I arrived at the start of the trail to the waterfall. The suspension bridge gives visitors an idea of the amount of water going through this area and for it to transform into a waterfall, there would need to be a sharp drop in the river bed.

The rain was very frustrating since it wouldn’t let up. I was totally unprepared for the rain but what can I do. I just hope my camera holds up. The trail leads to a waterfall which has a decent width. There is a drop of around one storey and the sounds of the water was quite loud. My initial impression of the waterfall was “That’s it?”. I admit that the waterfall wasn’t really that bad but I guess I was expecting more for something which is labelled as the Niagara of Taiwan.
