It appears that the bad weather I ran into the previous day was continuing today. From the looks of it, it might be raining the whole day. I only had an umbrella with me but the rain seems to be more than the umbrella could handle. It was getting difficult to take photos in the rain I decided to take a break. There wasn’t much to Shifen apart from the train station area. Once I got past there, it was much quieter. It was then that I saw a dumpling shop. It had photos of some interesting dumplings which I haven’t had in ages. I didn’t matter that the shop didn’t even have a name. I decided to go in.

I was pleasantly surprised to see that they have air conditioning. It would be great since having steamed food would make the place very humid, more than it already is outside. The first thing which stood out for me was one of my all time favorites, the xiaolongbao. I’m not sure where this originated but I heard it is a specialty in Shanghai. The delicious soupy dumpling has then crossed the Taiwan straits and has become a familiar feature in dumpling restaurants. This one in particular seemed to be a random hole in the wall shop and it served decent enough xiaolongbao, enough to satisfy my craving. I am sure that I would be having this elsewhere so I am preparing my appetite.
