Rua Augusta

It was a tiring but very fruitful visit to Sintra. We all had a great meal at the Time Out Market where I finally got some peri-peri chicken. Fortunately, there was a metro station nearby and there was no need to walk far to get back home. The following day, I didn’t plan any more out of town trips. I decided to take it easy and just stay within Lisbon. Much as I don’t like to explore cities like these, there is so much to see here in Lisbon and it would be a shame not to at least see what the city is all about.

What is probably the most interesting part of the city is the old area of Lisbon, there are numerous narrow streets which visitors can spend a lot of time exploring. One thing which I noticed is that Lisbon is actually quite hilly, this makes it a little difficult for not so fit folks to explore on foot. My first destination in the city of Lisbon is probably one of the most popular places in the city. Rua Augusta, is arguably the most important shopping street of Lisbon. You can immediately see how important it is. Rua Augusta itself is pedestrianized although there would be cars crossing the street itself so one still needs to be careful. The street is also tiled to make it more attractive. Naturally, there are a lot of shops along this area and it would be interesting to see what is here.
