Rugged Landscape at Cabo da Roca

We were brought to the westernmost point of Europe and consequently, the Eurasian continent. It is nothing really special except that you get brownie points for getting here. There was a monument here to mark the westernmost point. Technically, it isn’t since there was still some more land further west but no one’s counting. This place seems to be a very popular place for tourists. Perhaps it is not too often that you get to go to the westernmost point of something what more, the largest landmass in the world.

What surprised me at the Cabo da Roca, was not that it was the westernmost point of the Eurasia but that there seascape here is actually quite impressive. There are cliffs here which make for a very rugged landscape. It is not unlike the landscape at the Azenhas do Mar. It seems that this part of Portugal has some high cliffs and thus some impressive scenery. It does make me think that it would have been nice to have our own transportation since we will only be going to wherever our tour guide brings us. Then again, I’m sure he would oblige but I just didn’t know any better place. The crowds at the monument at Cabo da Roca don’t venture far into the cliffs so it makes for great photos.
