I was enjoying walking along the Rue Sainte-Catherine, which is Bordeaux’s well known shopping street. There were numerous shops along this long street which definitely makes walking a pleasure. I didn’t really have anything specific I wanted to buy but this is probably a welcome change of pace compared to the rather sleepy cities which I have visited over the past week. It seems that pretty much the whole of Bordeaux is out shopping or maybe just out to get some fresh air. It was already dinner time so I was also time for me to go find a place to eat.

Rue Sainte-Catherine is home to numerous restaurants and one would be spoilt for choice here. There were several international cuisine restaurants but I was after some French food since this was my last night in France. I ended up at a place called Restaurant Chez Paulette. By this time I was already able to roughly understand the French menu. I had some steak on a skewer which turned out to be a fancier barbeque but with steak. I wasn’t particularly happy with the skewer since there was not enough meat for my taste. Naturally, I prefer one which much more. The dish made up for it by adding more fries. For desserts, I had creme brulee, whose name is very French, but it seems that it could have come from Catalonia or England or France. It seems that my impression of the food of Restaurant Chez Paulette was shared by others since the restaurant in Bordeaux has already closed. Or maybe I need to write these posts faster.
