View of the Rhône River from Rocher des Doms

I was surprised to see a park named Rocher des Doms built on top of a small hill beside the Cathedral of Our Lady of Doms. It was a nice little walk up the hill. I was ever more surprised to see that there were already a lot of people on this hill. It seems to be part of the tourist path when exploring the medieval town of Avignon. I think that that it was all part of the plan since I was just randomly walking around the park when I noticed that there was a view to be seen here. I knew that I would be in an elevated area but the park threw me off. As it turns out, visitors can have a view of the Rhône river.

The Rhône river borders the medieval town of Avignon in the north. From the park, one can see the rest of the medieval town. I found out that the park is one of the northernmost points of the medieval town, so there isn’t much to see. In the distance, across the river, you can see the other cities near Avignon. There seems to be a fort in the distance which turned out to be Chateau De Villeneuve Les Avignon. I didn’t walk all the way there anymore since it seemed to be quite some distance away. I decided to just follow the path for the medieval town.
