I was disappointed not to be able to visit the Cathedral of Our Lady of Doms in Avignon. I wasn’t sure if it was because it was a public holiday that it was closed. It seemed to be an important church which is tied to the history of the medieval town of Avignon. Continuing on there was a small hill where there a lot of greenery. It appeared to be a park of some sort but I couldn’t tell since it was a high up. There were stairs which zigzag across the face of the hill to make climbing to the top much easier. I was expecting it to lead outside the town but it still was part of the medieval town.

There was a full blown park here on top of the hill. I was surprised to see how developed it was. The name of the park is Rocher des Doms. It is probably the main park in the medieval town, since I’m not sure the squares here count as parks. This is probably the first time I have been to a town park which I needed to climb. There was a pond here which has a lot of birds to feed. It seems that the birds already know about this place and just wait for humans to bring them food. The Rocher des Doms also has a cafe right next to the pond. I thought it was a nice place to have a cup of coffee. This place seems to be quite popular since there were quite a few people hanging out here. It is possible too that the area here is too small and that visitors will be more concentrated in a much smaller space.
