A Hall Inside the Royal Castle of Warsaw

It used to be that Krakow was the seat of power in Poland. However, Warsaw’s fortunes changed when the king decided to move the capital to Warsaw. There is an old town of Warsaw which used to be the center of the city. Nowadays, it is a place for tourists. A lot of the old town of Warsaw has been restored and it almost looks like it has been there forever. The Royal Castle of Warsaw is one of the major monuments here in the old town. The late 1500s saw the construction of the royal castle and obviously has been the residence of kings ever since.

The castle building isn’t that large. In fact, it is more wide than big. There is a large courtyard in the middle which gives it more space. The actual structure isn’t that huge. I can say that as far as royal castles are concerned, this one is a big more modest. The castle most prominently features towers with onion shaped domes. It seems to be a common design here in this region. I have seen them used in old churches but I don’t understand the significance of this design in royal castles. I was lucky to have arrived at the castle quite early. I would have less competition when it comes to photos.
