The Basilica of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Wadowice is built in what is the city square. Back then, churches tend of have large squares. The square here in Wadowice is aptly named John Paul II Square in honor of their famous son. There are a lot of shops nearby which makes for a nice short stroll around the city center. It seems to be quite small since I was back to where I started soon after leaving it. The end opposite the basilica appeared to be busier as it is lined with a few restaurants and shops. I was wondering if I would end up eating dinner here. I wasn’t looking forward to that since there didn’t seem to be a lot of choices here.

John Paul II Square is a good place to people watch. There are not a lot of the mass tourism people coming here. Most people are pilgrims who come here to pay homage to Pope John Paul II. Thus, I would think Wadowice is spared the tourist traffic which goes to nearby Krakow. There was a man who was feeding the birds here. It seems to happen often in squares but it somehow seems to be the best place to see that. I decided to go have a quick lunch before getting back to see the museum.
