Outside Saint Barbara’s Church in Krakow

The impressive Saint Mary’s Basilica in Krakow was a very busy church. There were a lot of people entering and leaving the church. I wanted to take photos but there was a service at the time so I needed to come back to have a look inside. I was going around the church went I came across a much smaller church beside the basilica. This is Saint Barbara’s Church. Actually, this used to be the cemetery chapel, in what is now Plac Mariacki. As the name implies, this place used to be the church cemetery.

It was decreed that the holy masses at the basilica would be said in Polish, the large German population of Krakow had to use Saint Barbara’s Church for their services. As one would expect, the church isn’t that large, in fact, I didn’t realize it was a church until I entered it myself. After all, why would there be two church right next to each other. Fortunately, unlike its larger neighbor, Saint Barbara’s church is less busy. I think I should be able to get photos of the church as long as there are not services going on.
