Approaching Blarney Castle

The south of Ireland seems of have a lot of castles. They would be in varying degrees of preservation but I managed to visit a few very well preserved ones. Blarney Castle is my sixth castle in three days. These are quite well known castles and I haven’t even visited the lesser known ones. It just goes to show much there is to see here. Blarney Castle is probably one of the most well known of the Irish castles and I think this is the first time I have seen so many people at a castle. There are people one a day trip from Dublin which is actually a long way from here.

One side of the Blarney Castle seems to be under renovation and it is covered up. This ruined my photos but this is all for the greater good so that there will be more photos of the castle in the future. Maybe I need to visit this place again in the future. The main entrance of Blarney Castle looks much like a lot of Irish castles. The castle is basically a rectangular block rising several stories high. It isn’t that attractive but at least it is in very good shape. Not too many people seem to be taking photos of the castle itself with everyone making a beeline to the entrance.
