Arriving at Blarney Castle

Approaching Blarney Castle

Blarney Castle is one of Ireland’s most well known tourist sites. It is not very far from the Cork City. I spent a night in Cork city and I was continuing with my trip around the south of Ireland. This is probably the furthest south I have been to in the country and driving that far is no joke. I was worried that I would be tired since I kept moving from place to place. Fortunately, I wake up refreshed and ready for another day of driving. Blarney Castle is my next stop and judging from my arrival at the town, it seems to be a very touristy town.

Now, touristy in Ireland, doesn’t really seem that bad. There are the souvenir shops but I think it is not as in your face as the others I have seen elsewhere. I think people take is a bit slower when it comes to touristiness. The car park at Blarney Castle was very spacious. It was large enough for me to lose sight of where the entrance was supposed to be. The ticket booth gives you the choice visiting a few sights. I wasn’t interested in visiting the mansion, so I thought to give that a pass. I got a nice map/magnet in exchange.
