I stayed in my room at the Four Season Youth Hostel for a while. I guess I was trying to get used to the room, I had the door open ajar as well, at least to get rid of the musty smell as well. Although half of the day I was just sitting in a bus, it was still tiring. It is not easy to move around with all your stuff from city to city. Fortunately, I have learned to travel light so my stuff wasn’t as heavy anymore.

The streets of Dali look very similar to the ones in Lijiang. Not really surprising considering how close these two cities are. Dali is just another of the tourist magnets of Yunnan. It is also surprisingly old. Dali is one of the old capitals of the Nanzhao kingdom in the 8th century. Dali eventually became a kingdom of its own when the Nanzhao collapsed that is until Genghis Khan and his thundering hordes came and conquered everything. The Bai minorities dominate in this area and it shows in the number of products they sell.
