After I got a little rest at the my gloomy room at the Four Seasons Youth Hostel, I set out to do some exploration. The hostel is located at the old town area of Dali. When I say old town it means that the houses are relatively well preserved. Though I was already within the city walls. The old town of Dali seems to have an older and more original town while another part seems to have a more modern feel – that was where I had my little snack when I was entering Dali Ancient Town.

It seems like Dali Ancient Town is nowhere near the size of Lijiang which is probably the mother of all ancient towns, it is not as pretty either, I just grateful that this place is much more easier to navigate that Lijiang. Dali’s layout is more regular and thus easier to remember. At least I won’t have problems remembering where the hostel is this time. In Lijiang, I kept getting lost even though I have already spent several days there. Though getting lost doesn’t seem to be part of the activities here, I still think there is much to see here.
