Lunch at Tiger Leaping Gorge Town 虎跳峡镇

I got off my bus at the Tiger Leaping Gorge Town 虎跳峡镇, also known as Qiaotou 桥头. I don’t know where my bus was ultimately headed but this is probably a major stop for buses plying this route. I know because the previous bus I took from Shangrila to Lijiang passed by this town. I was thinking that I should not have any issues getting back to Lijiang since there were a lot of transport here. I needed to start my trek here are the Tiger Leaping Gorge but I needed to go for some lunch. I will be walking a lot so I need a little more energy. Fortunately, Tiger Leaping Gorge being a major stop has a few places to eat at.

I ate at one of the restaurants which was beside the raging river. The restaurant was simple but quite large. I ordered fried pork on toothpicks. I may sound a bit strange but it is really fried with the toothpicks on. I suppose this is to prevent the meat from bunching up. I didn’t know whether the dish was a local Yunnan specialty but it was okay. They naturally served hot tea here and I kept filling up to keep myself warm. The patrons were most probably visitors to the Tiger Leaping Gorge as well but I didn’t find any who I could have gone with.
