A Look at the Town of Tiger Leaping Gorge 虎跳峡镇 or Qiaotou 桥头
The moment the bus pulled into the town I knew I already passed by this town a couple of days ago. I remember the bus from Shangrila to Lijiang passed by this town. I remember that this place seemed to be very near the Tiger Leaping Gorge but I wasn’t really sure. I was considering getting off here and maybe explore the area for a while but I had a lot of stuff with me at that time. I wasn’t aware that the town had accommodations and that I could have tried to spend the night here but I wasn’t really prepared for that since I need to plan enough for that. So here I am back in this town with a much lighter but still heavy bag.
The Current Seems to be Strong Here at Tiger Leaping Gorge Town 虎跳峡镇
The Tiger Leaping Gorge Town also known as Qiaotou is the jumping off point for exploring the famed Tiger Leaping Gorge. In fact, the town probably exists primarily because of this. The town is very small and there wasn’t really anything interesting here other than the Tiger Leaping Gorge itself which was still around ten kilometers away. I needed to organize myself first and see how to approach this place. Hopefully, I would be able to find a companion to join me exploring the gorge. But first things first, I needed some energy to explore the area, I needed to go for an early lunch.
