Lijiang Ancient Town is certainly a pretty ancient town, in fact probably one of the prettiest I have ever visited. The ancient towns of China all have their own unique features which give them a distinctive charm. In the case of Lijiang is it the combination of Ming and Qing dynasty houses and numerous waterways give the town that unqiue and pleasing feel. I will be staying in Lijiang a few nights and hopefully I would be able to explore a lot more of this delightful town. The beauty of Lijiang doesn’t stop when the sun goes down, actually you could argue that this is where another kind of beauty arises.

At night, Lijiang Ancient Town, bursts into innumerable lights. The Ming and Qing dynasty houses are all brilliantly lit up to great effect. Much like its sibling ancient towns across the country, the town takes on a totally different feel at night. One might imagine how it would be like that back in the medieval ages when they only had lamps to work with. Although, a lot of those houses have been replaced by hotels nad restaurants, you can still feels this at night especially when you are away from the main streets. My hostel is in a particularly good location away from everything and you can easy catch this feeling there. That is, if you can find your way back.
