Approaching the Jetty at Perhentian Kecil

The Perhentian Islands is a small archipelago off the coast of Terengganu state in Malaysia. Some islands on this side of Malaysia have made a name for themselves such as Pulau Redang, which is widely considered the best island resort of Malaysia. We came to the Perhentian Islands specifically to avoid the hype of Pulau Redang, not that it wasn’t deserving. This is considered more of a off the beaten track kind of trip, however, I don’t think it will last much longer. We will be staying at one of the islands at Perhentian – Perhentian Kecil or Small Island. The larger island is further along the sea, not very far. My friend decided to stay at the Perhentian Kecil because is supposedly more quiet and less crowded.

Anyway, our speed boat is finally slowing down as we are approaching Perhentian Kecil. The waters around the island are absolutely lovely with a blue green color which I haven’t seen in a long time. The island as a proper jetty where passengers can disembark from their speed boat. I remember when I have to wade to shore when visiting islands in the Philippines, which isn’t really that bad a thing, but it can be surprising to the unprepared. At least the jetty will keep us from getting wet while we decide what to do next. Not all of us will be getting off at this jetty. There are other destinations in this island and the next one. Hopefully I would get to see them as we explore the island for the next few days.
