Brilliantly Lit Western Style Building in Zhong Street 中街 in Shenyang 沈阳
The name Zhong means “center” in Chinese and it is obviously meant to signify the importance of this street. Unfortunately, the current state of the street during my visit was all but impressive because of the numerous construction going on. I’m sure that the next time I visit it will be much better. Darkness came swiftly at Shenyang, much like how it was in Haerbin, I really wasn’t used to the sudden shift in day light hours, and it really makes me feel that I needed to start to go home or at least go back to the hotel. It was still five in the afternoon though so there ws lots of time to explore.

The biting cold of Shenyang that day was worse that night. Proof that winter was indeed coming. My poor excuse for winter wear is barely able to keep up but I was trying to enjoy it since it never gets this cold where I live. The lights of Zhong Street are already up and it does make for a pretty sight, compensating for the sorry state of the road itself. There were a lot of the typical Chinese department stores and chains, most of which I have already seen before. I stopped by a large Nike shop which has a lot of basketball stuff. I was under the impression that it will be cheaper here but it seems that the shoes were even more expensive. I wonder how people can afford to buy them.
