Boarding the High-Speed Train in Haerbin 哈尔滨

The city of Haerbin in Heilongjiang province was every bit the architecture treasure trove I thought it would be. A lot of the historical buildings in the city have been carefully restored or maintained. Although much of Haerbin is already turning into your typical Chinese city, Haerbin still has it own charm which can’t be said for other cities of this size. Haerbin isn’t your typical tourist destination it has little in the way of centuries old buildings, natural sites will have to be far away from the city.

However, this is a great jump off point if you want to continue exploring the rest of China’s north east. The provincial government has been busy promoting Heilongjiang province as a nature destination. I must admit that I was intruiged to see these sights though I have yet to hear about them. These destinations are probably known to the local people but unknown to the rest of the world. It has been my experience in my travels in China that sometimes they do really keep good things for themselves. This might not be a bad thing either but it was only a matter of time before the rest of the world finds out. As I leave this northern city as I start to make my way back home, I was amazed at myself on actually having made it here on my own. I guess I had become quite comfortable travelling in China.
