Starting Our Zhou Zhuang Boat Tour
I have been to various places in Zhou Zhuang and I must say that it is a very nice place to visit, just try to come here on a weekday as there will be less tourists. I spent the whole day at Zhou Zhuang the last time but I didn’t even get to try one of the must-do activities. Being the water town that it is, it is but natural that boats ply the waterways of Zhou Zhuang. The people use this for transportation of people and of goods. Lately, there is a new kind of cargo – tourists.
Navigating the Tranquil Waters of Zhou Zhuang 周庄
The droves of tourists that come to Zhou Zhuang inevitably find themselves here at one of the docks of the tour boat. I thought that the tour boat wasn’t any different from just walking along the banks of the waterways since they are so near. The boat is just a bit closer to the water though. My friend wanted to try the tour boat so off we go. Our boatman is a local woman who has been doing this for a while. She said that the people operating the boat take turns in serving customers and they practically live off the tips given by the customers. Wink. Wink.
