Our Room at the Mingtown Hangzhou International Youth Hostel
I have been travelling for more than two weeks and I have finally come to my last city in China before I leave. The city of Hangzhou is famous in China for its lake and the scenery around it. For me, it was just the place where the airport was. I hardly know anything about this city aside from its famous lake. My arrival in Hangzhou wasn’t as impressive as arriving in Shanghai. Hangzhou is also a thoroughly modern city but their train station is still lightyears away from the ultra-modern complex of Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station. It seems that they have forgotten to modernize this bit of the city.

Although not really dilapidated, the train station resembled an ordinary Chinese train station, this was one of the bigger ones and it reminded me of the train station in Tai’an City in Shandong province. There wasn’t much to do in the station and I quickly tried to get out of the station. I wasn’t easy as much of it is underground, but I managed to find the exit. There was a taxi queue at where I got on to get to my hostel.

I booked a hostel room at Mingtown Hangzhou International Youth Hostel and it seemed it was a fair distance from the train station. I had a nice look at the city before finally arriving at the lake area. Apparently, their location is tops as it is very close to the hostel. My driver didn’t know where it was though so I just told him to let me off at a bus stop. I’m quite sure it was nearby. Lo and behold, we actually just passed the hostel, as I saw their Hostelling International flag. Handy little things those flags are, as they have saved me more than once.
