From the moment I arrived in Shanghai, I started to take it slow. Quite surprising since Shanghai is one of the most dynamic cities in the world, relaxing might be a little hard to understand in this kind of place. However, it seems that Shanghai also allows for small surprises by just randomly walking around. I was in this kind of mood when I was walking from Nanjing Road. There were a few interesting buildings along the way but I was just walking around and observing the people. I didn’t have any itinerary here in Shanghai for I lost my research material while still in faraway Beijing.

Somehow my wanderings brought me to this quiant little street in the outskirts of the large commercial centers in Shanghai. The street was full of old shophouses much like how they are in Singapore and Malaysia. The ground level was lined with various antique shops while the road itself was closed to vehicular traffic. This was a street market and it is dedicated to antiques as both sides of the road has antique stalls. Somehow I have stumbled into Shanghai Dongtai Road Antique Market 上海东台路古玩市场.
