Students at the Entrance to the Xidi 西递 Ancient Town
I suddenly found myself with a companion in my travel in Tunxi 屯溪 in Anhui 安徽 province. The Japanese student on tour was also going the same way I am while I was only glad I have someone to go with me. The bus was heading towards the ancient town of Xidi 西递. It was more than an hour away so there was much time to relax. The bus passed through beautiful fields and small town with a unique architectural style. This style was also evident in Tunxi itself, so I would assume that this is something like their signature style.
Xidi 西递 Ancient Town
The town of Xidi is one of two ancient towns named to the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. I was considering if we can make it to the second one if we have time, the bus left at 11 in the morning, which means we will get there at around noon or past noon. I have no idea how big Xidi is, I guess we will just have to wing it when we get there. One gets the feeling of going further and further away from civilization as the bus pushes deeper into the mountains. Maybe this will be a great experience.
