Large Granite from Mount Tai 泰山
On my way to Tai’an I noticed that it was much foggier that it was in Beijing where I was blessed with very clear skies. The skies of Tai’an weren’t very good that day and you can probably see from my Dai Temple photos. The star attraction of Tai’an, actually of Shandong province itself is Mount Tai or Taishan 泰山. Visiting a mountain in such conditions isn’t really very conducive to nice photos. I’m afraid that all my photos will be shades of gray.

So imagine my surprise to see that the following day was clear. The sky was blue and the mist was very thin. It was good enough to see the top of the mountain from the city itself. Since the ancient days, people would come to Mount Tai as a pilgrimage by climbing up the mountain, normally starting from Dai Temple then walk to the north gate and on to the main road which leads to the stairs going up the mountain. Based on the hostel’s recommendation, I took a Bus 3 near the McDonald’s to the entrance gate of the mountain. Don’t worry about not finding your way, everyone else will be going the same way.
