Confucius Mansion 孔府
More than just the house, the Confucius Mansion has been the government offices of the descendants of the the great sage. The lucky descendants were accorded the rank of Duke of Yansheng by Liu Bang 刘邦 way back in 195 BC. In the Song dynasty, the rank was converted into a hereditary rank. The mansion used to be part of the Confucius Temple grounds but has been separated from the temple a while back. However, the descendants of Confucius still tend to the temple as they did a long time ago.
