The area around the Sultan Mosque is Singapore is also known as Kampong Glam. There are a significant number of Malay related structures here in this area, one is the Sultan Mosque itself. However, what may not be that obvious anymore are the grounds right beside the Sultan Mosque itself. This patch of green used to be where the palace of the Sultan when they moved here, with the mosque nearby serving as their own. The palace grounds used to be much larger but has now been encroached by other establishments such as restaurants.
