It takes very careful planning to build an impressive palace. Back in the Ming and Qing dynasties, the rules of symmetry were already being practiced in design of these types of places. As a result, it is not surprising to see different structures ending up looking like each other. You put something one the left, there should be an identical one on the right. Same goes for imperial park design.
